Play Scores on Phone or Tablet using the MuseScore App
If you plan to play your music on your phone or tablet, you may download the free MuseScore app from the App Store (for iPhone and iPad), or from Google Play (for Android phone or tablet). Unfortunately, MuseScore now requires you to pay a yearly (or you can select monthly) fee to access the SongBook where you keep your music, and to use features that are useful for learning your part. Once you pay, however you will be able to adjust the volume of the different parts so that you just hear yours, or make your part a bit louder than the others. You can also slow the song down if you’re having trouble following it at speed.
Diane Walter will email you the individual MuseScore files. You will need to click on each music file and add them to a folder on your phone or tablet. The File Folder or the Download Folder are both good places to store the songs.
Now open the MuseScore app on your mobile device.
Down at the bottom of the screen you will see your SongBook, under the heading “Available offline”.
Click on “Songbook”. In the upper right corner click on the plus sign (+). Navigate to the folder where you stored the MuseScore songs (they may be found under “Recent”). Click on one of the MuseScore songs and it will be added to your Songbook.
Repeat this step for each song.
You may now play a song, adjust parts, etc. on your mobile device without an internet connection, (on an airplane, for instance).
ALTERNATIVELY, for FREE once you have adjusted the songs using MuseScore on your computer you may export them as MP3 files and save them on a folder in the cloud (e.g., Google Drive) that you can then access on your smartphone.
On MuseScore , go to File, then Export, save as MP3 to your designated folder in the cloud (e.g., Google Drive).
Access the MP3 files from the cloud using your phone. Select the option to make available offline so you can play songs without internet connection (on an airplane, for instance).
